Track Traffic Plays an Important Role in the Olympic Games
Ahead
To address the Beijing 2008 Olympic Games, the People's
Government of Beijing Municipality hosted an investment and project
promotion conference in April 2004. What becomes most noticeable
is the project for four newly built metro lines — total length 103.54km;
87 stations; total investment of RMB 50 billion.
Obviously, Beijing's metro construction will reach a new climax.
It is anticipated the total length of metro and light rail of the
city will surpass 200km by 2008.
China`s Urban Track Traffic ---in a Stable
Grouwth
Apart from Beijing's limited metro lines in those
early days, the vast majority of China's urban metro development
was unveiled in the 90's. Within a mere 15 years, Beijing, Shanghai
and Guangzhou consequently have their own newly constructed metro
and light rail lines in operation. Predictably, metro line will
also be officially operating in Shenzhen, Nanjing and Chongqing
by 2005. The respective constructions in Wuhan, Tianjin and Qingdao
are underway while constructions are progressively being planned
in Shenyang, Hangzhou, Chengdu, Xian and so on.
The increasing urban population makes ground transportation improbably
viable to satisfy development needs. With track traffic inevitably
gains foothold in larger cities, it is the country’s development
policy to "steadily foster the sector’s growth through resolute
localization, meanwhile, acclaiming international cooperation".
Recently, there are some cities welcome international investors
to take part in the relevant investment, construction and operation.
Formation of Regional Economics - Intercity
Track Traffic on top of the Agenda
China's phenomenal economic growth produces three
formidable economic zones, namely Yangtze River Delta, Pearl River
Delta and Bohai Bay Economic Zone. The distance amongst the majority
cities of each economic zone is within 300km. Thus, construction
of intercity hi-speed rail transit with speed of around 300km/hr
will greatly reduce the traveling time among cities, which in turn
will be advantageous to further integrate and jointly develop the
region economy. Indeed, the 3 big economic zones are all launching
intercity traffic track plan and construction will presumably reach
a climax in the coming decade.
China's Metro Network Achieving Massive
Scale
— Issues on Safety, Monitoring and Maintenance Gain Significance
Up to now, cities including Beijing, Shanghai, Guangzhou
and so forth have metro lines in operation with total length over
150km. The respective Metro Line 1 in cities namely Shenzhen, Nanjing
and Chongqing will also be officially operating by 2005. Safety
and protection as well as examination and maintenance of the respective
equipment in underground track traffic will be on top of the agenda.
The Most Old-Line Exhibition of China's
modern track traffic industry
Metro Expo, a unique exhibition specialized on China's
metro sector, was firstly introduced in 1989. Its first inception
in Guangzhou played an important role in the construction of Guangzhou
Metro. Since then, the Expo has specially been held in Guangzhou,
Beijing, Shanghai, Nanjing and Dalian to associate with their track
traffic construction. Apparently, Metro Expo is growing along with
China's urban track traffic development.
The major and exemplary exhibitors (in alphabetical order): 3M,
ABB, Alcatel, Alstom, Bombardier, Changchun Car Company, China National
Railway, Signal & Comm. Corp., Knorr-Bremse, Korea Rolling Stock
Industries Association and their member companies, MTR Corporation
Ltd. (Hong Kong), Nanjing Puzhen Rolling Stock Works, Samsung, Shunde
Special Transformer Works, Siemens, Zhuzhou Electric Locomotive
Works, etc.
The Largest Concentration of China's Track
Traffic Professionals
Gaining attendance of oceans of visitors during the
three-day event, the exhibition has promised to be an essential
annual gathering of the industry’s top professionals.
Professional visitors, ranging from chief representatives from those
cities that are under-planned or under-constructed metro & light
rail transit constructions as well as their material procurement
officers to delegates from the railway departments, equipment suppliers
and buyers... etc. are anticipated to view the latest technological
sublime from the exhibitors who are prestigious multinational corporations
from home and abroad.
